The primary nameplate used by Ford for vehicles purposed as police vehicles since 1992 is the Ford Police Interceptor. The Ford models modified and sold for police, fire and other emergency service use.  The primary vehicles sold as Police Interceptors are the Police Interceptor Utility and the Police Interceptor Sedan. The Police Interceptor is a specialized Ford Explorer that was introduced in 2013.
