Cougar XR7 1968 at Pep Boys in Arlington Heights -- or Is It a 1967 Model?

Image
Mercury Cougar XR7 Model with owner picking up some parts at Pep Boys on Rand Road in Arlington Heights. Mercury Cougars were assembled at the Dearborn Assembly Plant (DAP)—one of six plants within the Ford Rouge Center—in Dearborn, Michigan from 1967 to 1973, at the San Jose Assembly Plant in Milpitas, California from 1968 into early 1969, at the Lorain Assembly Plant (LAP) in Lorain, Ohio from 1974 to 1997, and at the Flat Rock, Michigan Assembly Plant from 1999 to 2002. The Cougar "pony car" was a Mustang twin for seven years, and could be optioned to be a genuine muscle car. The vehicle shifted from performance toward luxury, as it transformed into a plush pony car. This vehicle is possibly a 1967 model with 1968 front fenders and wiring harness for side marker lights.
